It has been hot here in Texas. I know that is sort of a no-brainer, but I mean really hot. Hotter than I am use to hot. 106 every single day sort of hot.
Even the squirrels think it is hot: (please forgive the horrible quality of this photo)
The one of the right is a female. She was just a bit startled when she realized I was watching. The one of the right is a male. He pulled a major “honey badger” & did not care one bit about ANYTHING. {just FYI honey badger video is PG13 – at least, but is super hysterical}
The heat has made me cranky & a bit stir crazy. I want to go ride my brand new bike every thing day/night, but it is just so hard to find the time between work & not wanting to die of heat exhaustion.
To cure my stir craziness I worked on a very quick project I have been meaning to do. Once again I resorted to my stash of oops paint. Oh how I love thee oops paint. We got 2 of these wooden containers from Target while we still lived in Knoxville. They are the perfect size to hold video games & controllers. The funny part is that is not at all what they were intended to do. We found these guys in the bathroom section of Target for like $8-$10/each (a bit pricey for me, but Ben said just do it).
Now they live on the shelf under our coffee table keeping controllers & their cords from straying too far & where they are easily reached from the couch (because who wants to have to get up to get a controller when they want to play Little Big Planet). They are awesome little guys – except that they are a strange color. It matches absolutely nothing we own.
I did like that they were light though. We have a tendency to lean toward the Ikea black/brown color far too often when it comes to furniture. The plus side of that is we can make all our little accessories colored & still keep somewhat of a cohesive theme.
But like I said, the oops paint saved the day.
This is the still wet color of the paint. I will add a picture of it dry, but I really do not think it will dry much different than this color. In the next picture you can see my little container of oops paint.
A whole $.50 redo. Now they pull out the light blue color that is in the fabric of the pillows I made (fabric from Ikea) rather than just hanging out all unmatchy.
Oh & thanks to this little project I did not go crazy this weekend. Oops paint, you are my hero.

1. I tried to comment on this at work, and your site is blocked by my office! You must have porn hidden on here somewhere ;-)
2. I’m going to be painting a night stand Justin’s friend is giving us. Do you think that size of a can of oops would cover this? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30208032#/50124159/

haha of course my site would be blocked. at least you have outside internet at work we can’t get to ANYTHING outside of our interoffice crap. but yes, you caught me haha…. must be all that talk of “projects”
yes yes & double yes. the little behr paint (which is super awesome paint anyways) things are 8 oz. at least that’s what size i get most of mine in. sometimes they have larger containers, but they tend to run more like $2.50-5. the 8 oz ones I get are usually $.50. if you want an actual specific color i know you can get “samples” which are the 8 oz containers but i imagine they cost more than the oops ones. i would say you could paint a whole dining room table with 8 oz of paint.
just fyi- a lot of ikea stuff has shiny finished surfaces (like the kind you’d normally sand before painting). if you are going to paint it i recommend doing a couple layers of paint or sealing it with a clear coat of spray paint after painting it. i’m not sure how it’d hold up to sanding…. but if you do a couple layers of paint/ spray paint it won’t chip off as easily. sometimes just one coat will flake off easily because the paint doesn’t have anything to “grip” onto because the surface is shiny – learned that one the hard way

[...] Seriously folks, I painted a piece of cardboard with leftover oops paint I had (the same color from this project) put the print on top of it & shoved them both in a cheap-o Walmart frame (the kind the glass [...]
