This holiday weekend I spent a whole lot of time doing absolutely nothing at all Saturday & Sunday. It was quite wonderful. After going home for my sister’s graduation then flying back & starting my new job the next day I was exhausted. By Monday, I was ready for a little project.
Step 1: order 2 awesome prints from Etsy.
CAPow has some of the cutest stuff ever. I feel in love with the prints of NY & PA. About 10 years ago I moved from Albany to Chautauqua county – both of which are represented on that map. Ben also has lived in two places in PA – both on the map. Ben & I were in a long distance relationship for what has felt like ever. All the driving we did from NY to PA that is on the map. The places we grew up, met, & spent time together – on those maps. Since then, we have lived in a few states together. But where we came from, how it all began – it is on those maps.
The prints are 8 x 10 (I could not afford to get them any bigger & still justify the purchase. They were $25 each as it was.) At that size they were much too small to display on our huge wall behind our monster couch. I needed something else.
Step 2: wall stickie from Pier One (~$8 with a coupon)
Step 3: because I had a super big fear of the sticker never coming off the wall & since we rent, not own our condo (& I wanted to be able to take my decoration with us when we move) I bought a huge frame, 24 x 36 to be exact ($30 at Target).
Step 4: combine steps 2 & 3
Step 5: hang it all up
Step 6: admire.
I know Ben thinks it is a bit cheesy, but I do not care. I think it will be a great conversation piece when people question why we live in Texas, but have NY & PA hanging on our walls.
Plus, it is the truth. There is no place like home – where ever that may be.

they are pretty much the most amazing thing ever. you most certainly need to get one. i was going to get “chautauqua” & “albany” in a color & “erie” & “state college” in a color, but we could not decide on a color we liked. plus the black & white will work anywhere on any color wall. i just wish they were cheaper because I love everything in that shop.
